Welcome to the first issue of 2004! It seems like it has been a while. I had a great holiday season with friends and family, and am ready for a most awesome 2004!

You might notice that this issue is filled with ideas. Some would say "longer" than normal. :-)

Save the date, March 5th for MindManager Fundamentals training in Atlanta. See the "shorts" section for more information. I would enjoy your participation!

Mind Map - Food Log

Uses: To track your eats. Seriously, a way for you to clarify what you want to accomplish health/fitness wise on a daily basis. Also is a place to document what you eat.

Background: I really started focusing much more on my personal health and fitness in the past year. I'm exercising consistently, and now I want to eat healthier! I've learned that documenting what you eat is a great place to start.

How to: Click on the map below you will see the expanded version via a web page. Print out a copy for each day of the week. Every morning, write out your goals. Throughout the day, write down what you eat.

Feature Article: Just what's Inside

I usually don't know what I'm going to write about in Half-Baked until the article and contents are complete. Even when I have an idea for a main article, it often changes as I write.

In this issue, for example, I've considered several different feature articles. Here are a few with summaries:

Article Idea #1: Every day is... a New Year

Decide what you want in life and REALLY go for it. Don't wait, procrastinate, make excuses, expect "better" timing, or think you'll ever be ready.

Call it a resolution. Call it a goal. Call it a decision. Call it a secret. Call it whatever you would like!

Every day is the beginning of a new year, isn't it? :-)

Maybe I'll write this article NEXT year.

Article Idea#2: Dom Perignon

A few weeks before the New Years I found myself fascinated with an article on expensive champagnes. My fascination turned into desire. My desire turned into a decision. And my decision turned into action, ultimately resulting in a bottle of 1995 Dom Perignon!

Wow, it was great! And so were the lessons:

- How easily and effortlessly a fascination (let free to roam and evolve without judgment) can turn into something real.

- What I thought was previously "out of reach" was not.

- How easily and often I've settled for a less than I truly want in my life.

This article is 75% complete. I couldn't get my full emotion into it. Maybe I'll publish it in December, 2004. I know it is a long wait, email me if you want it before then...

Article Idea #3: Future Futurist?

One of the coolest things about building a business is the ability to title yourself however you desire! Take my new title, Creative Realist. I absolutely love it!

But I've been in the closet with another profession for many years. I've always been fascinated with how people come to be Futurists. I thought I would give it a shot, so to speak. Maybe come up with 3 or 5 predictions for the future.

Then I read an article in the WSJ on how the entire profession is basically going under, and how difficult it is to accurately predict the future. Even more difficult is the ability to "track" the accuracy of these so called Futurists.

My whole article, up in flames!

Duh, people CREATE the future, not predict it. But come to think of it, really smart people do both. :-)

I'll eventually write this one because I find it very interesting. If you are also interested in this title, email me...

Article Idea #4: The Fire Outside my Window

Speaking of flames... A few days ago while working in my office, I noticed a car on fire in the street. I thought I would write on what I did, what I didn't do and what I learned.

I really like the title, but I've decided not to write the article at this time. Sorry.
---
I'm not suffering from a shortage of titles, stories, content, or inspiration. For me, it’s generally called getting out of bed each morning.

This week, I have many ideas swirling inside my head. Which one is most interesting to ME? Which one am I most passionate about? And which one will I choose to write about?

As recent as a year ago, I often "forced" the little writing I did do. I would pressure myself to come up with a miracle, and often came up with nothing. Apparently I’ve changed. And how I’ve change didn’t occur to me until last night.

Last night, I caught a portion of an interview with the actor Tom Cruise. Cruise was very clear about his creative process. He said when his character was emotionally or physically tired, he played tired, despite what the scene called for at that time. Instead of trying to be or do something he wasn't, he simply let his character be.

No forcing. No hype. No caffeine. Not anything. Just what is inside.

What a great way to create!

What an awesome way to live!

1) Exciting news:  I'll be holding MindManager XP Fundamentals training course in the Atlanta area on Friday, March 5th. Specifics will be announced in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, please drop me an email if you would like more information. SAVE THE DATE!

2) For those of you who read the December 9th issue, my list of goals is growing and is now at 187!

3) What about this? When applying for a business loan, you will be able to include your "network" as an asset that you will be able to borrow against. Methods and techniques will be developed to verify the value.

4) I nearly burned down my house. The culprit - tomato soup and email. Some things just don't belong together.

5) Happy 2004!

Thanks for reading - see on January 27th!

p.s. I really want to grow our readership! You can help - pass this along! THANKS!
