Welcome,
Memorial Day for me represents the official start of outdoor swimming

the past week.
I always appreciate and welcome your thoughts. Keep them coming!

Feature Article: Just add Water
This week, on my way to a meeting, I drove down a narrow
street that runs through a
local university. I had given myself
plenty of time to take my time. (doesn't explain why I took a
shortcut, but I did.)
My shortcut took me past a recreational facility and a track. The
recreational facility houses a gym, a weight room, and an indoor
swimming pool.
About halfway down the street, a van in front of
me stopped to unload a passenger. As I had no where to go and TIME
to look, I curiously watched the events directly in front of me.
To my delight, I noticed a little girl about ten years old bounce
out of the van. She was fully
dressed in swimming attire and wearing a pastel colored swim suit.
She wore yellow flip flops on her feet, had a a cap and goggles on her head, and
carried a blue towel on her shoulder.
The only thing she was missing was water!
I did get a chuckle out of the ready made swimmer. I smiled big as I
quickly realized she was on her way to swim practice. As a fellow
swimmer, I couldn't help but enjoy the sight.
I watched for a few seconds longer, and I noticed something even
more interesting. As the little girl's flip flops hit the ground,
she began running.
And of course being the intellectual that I am, I immediately had to
solve this puzzle of the running girl in swimsuit and flip flops.
I noticed she wasn't running from someone. I deduced she wasn't
trying to burn off that pre practice snack. And as I glanced at my
watch (4:52 pm), I decided she wasn't late for swim practice.
I know, I think to much.
From my perspective, the little girl was running to the pool out of
excitement and enthusiasm!
In seeing this, I first asked myself (and now have to ask you) this
question:
"What do you do (or do you want to
do) in your life that you gladly pursue with enthusiasm, joy, and
abandon of a ten year old?"
Hmmm????
I'm not asking for you to quit your job, move to Montana and raise
Alpacas. (or maybe I am) I simply suggest that you do this:
DO the thing or things that bring you great joy!
Easy enough?
Then you better get going. Half baked will wait. Besides, I had a
hard time writing a closing paragraph, so you won't miss anything by
stopping now.
You see, I have no desire to consider your excuses, suggest clarifying
points, or offer any other closing remarks. Today, I prefer to see the world
through my rose colored goggles.
Besides, the swimming pool is
calling my name...
:-)
